An established multidisciplinary consultancy in Reading is looking to appoint a Geotechnical Director to lead technical delivery, drive business development, and oversee contractor procurement across a varied project portfolio.
This role offers a strong mix of leadership, hands-on engineering, and commercial responsibility, with projects spanning residential developments, rail infrastructure, and sustainability-focused schemes.
The Role
As Geotechnical Director, you will:
Lead and grow the geotechnical division, setting technical standards and mentoring junior staff
Take ownership of business development, building relationships with new and existing clients
Oversee geotechnical design, including foundation solutions, ground improvement, and earthworks
Manage procurement and coordination of ground investigation and specialist contractors
Work closely with multidisciplinary teams on residential and rail projects
Support and contribute to sustainability-led design approaches and low-carbon solutions
Play a key role in strategic planning and direction of the businessRequirements
Strong background in geotechnical engineering or engineering geology
Proven experience in a senior or leadership role
Track record in business development and winning work
Solid technical design experience across residential and/or rail projects
Experience managing contractors and overseeing site operations
Chartered status (or working towards) preferredWhat's on Offer
