Due to internal promotion, we are looking for three compassionate and professional receptionists to join our dedicated team based at Foss Park Hospital. (1 x 22 hours ).
About Foss Park Hospital
Foss Park Hospital is a purpose-built mental health inpatient facility that opened in 2020 and provides services and delivers care to adults and older people in the York & Selby area. The hospital is situated on the outskirts of York City Centre just inside the ring road (north), ten minutes from Monks Cross Shopping Centre and benefits from free on-site parking and is easily accessed by car, bus and bicycle.
Role Overview
As a member of our Foss Park reception team you will be the first point of contact for patients, families and visitors. You will play a vital role in creating a welcoming and supportive environment at the heart of the hospital and make a real difference by providing both practical assistance and a kind, reassuring presence.
Right to Work
You must have the Right to Work in the UK in order to be successfully appointed to this role. This role does not meet the eligibility criteria for sponsorship under the Skilled Worker visa and therefore sponsorship is not available.
Main Duties
* Greet service users, carers and external partners face to face, including answering queries via telephone in a professional and friendly manner.
* Manage incoming and outgoing post, room bookings, ordering supplies, logging calls with estates, dealing with prescriptions, petty cash, booking taxis or patient transport.
* Arrange collection of pathology samples and perform general office duties.
* Maintain visitor logs, issue access cards and keep reception area information clearly displayed and updated.
* Remain calm, communicate clearly, adhere to confidentiality and promote a positive culture for those living with mental health issues and/or learning disabilities.
Qualifications
* BTEC Diploma/Level 2 qualification in a relevant field OR equivalent experience; willingness to work towards Level 3 qualification in Business and Administration.
* Key skills/functional skills in literacy and numeracy Level 2 or O Level (Grade C and above/New GCSE in Maths and English Grade 4 to 9) are essential.
Experience
* Customer service experience.
* Experience of general office duties.
* Data inputting experience.
Knowledge
* Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel and Outlook).
* Understanding of confidentiality and how to maintain it.
* Knowledge of office systems and processes.
* Knowledge of receiving visitors/telephone callers and taking accurate messages.

Remuneration
Salary: £24,465 a year pro rata.
Contract
Permanent, part‑time – 12‑hour shifts from 7.30 am to 7.30 pm on a rota with other reception staff. Fully supported induction and regular supervision.
