Level 2 SEND Teaching Assistant - Temp to Perm September 2026 Start Full Time Tradewind Recruitment Tradewind Recruitment are recruiting on behalf of a specialist partner school seeking a committed and enthusiastic Level 2 SEND Teaching Assistant to join their team from September 2026 on a temp-to-perm basis . The school provides specialist education for pupils with severe Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) , communication and interaction difficulties, and a range of physical disabilities. Staff work collaboratively to create a safe, structured and engaging learning environment that supports both educational progress and personal development. As a Level 2 SEND Teaching Assistant, you will support pupils across the curriculum, helping them engage in learning and develop essential life skills. You will work under the direction of the class teacher and wider SEND team to deliver targeted support tailored to individual needs. Responsibilities include: Supporting pupils with severe ASD and additional learning needs Assisting with communication strategies, including visual supports and alternative communication methods Supporting pupils to access lessons and learning activities Promoting positive behaviour and emotional regulation Encouraging social interaction, independence and confidence Assisting with personal care and physical support where required Contributing to pupil progress records and observations Working closely with teachers, therapists and parents/carers The ideal candidate will have: Previous experience supporting children or young people with SEND A Level 2 Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent experience Strong communication and interpersonal skills Patience, resilience and a positive attitude A genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs The school offers a welcoming and supportive environment, ongoing professional development opportunities and the potential to secure a permanent role following a successful temporary placement.
