The Royal Bolton Orthopaedic Department is looking to recruit highly motivated Band 5 Registered Nurses to join our team. We are a fast-paced unit with a high turnover of patients. The team seeks individuals who are enthusiastic about patient care, possess a positive attitude, and have a passion for Trauma and Orthopaedics. Our department includes a Plaster Room and Orthopaedic Clinic serving both adult and paediatric patients, offering a unique opportunity to learn casting, plastering, bracing, and complex wound care for hospital and community patients. There is excellent scope for professional development and skill enhancement in this highly specialised unit.
You will work as part of a multidisciplinary team to assess care needs, develop, implement, and evaluate care programmes. The Trust values international nurses and supports overseas nurses in gaining full UK registration via the OSCE; however, currently, we only accept applications from nurses with full Part 2 NMC registration. We will advertise opportunities for international nurses if this support becomes available in the future.
This role is training-focused, with an expectation to undertake the British Orthopaedic Association (BOA) Casting Certificate. We seek a motivated, hardworking nurse with excellent communication skills, a passion for patient care, and a drive to improve outcomes. You will be expected to provide high-standard, patient-centred care, supporting patients, relatives, and MDT members. The workload includes face-to-face and virtual interactions, with varied daily tasks.
The main responsibilities include:
1. Working within the plaster room and clinic areas
2. Understanding and treating orthopaedic injuries and conditions
3. Providing care across various areas including Fracture/Orthopaedic/Paediatric clinics, wards, and theatres
4. Attending to ED, wards, and theatres as needed
The department seeks two registered adult nurses with at least two years of post-registration experience. The successful candidates will work towards obtaining the BOA Casting Certificate after twelve months of training. A compassionate personality, enjoyment of working with people, and a desire to make a difference are essential. The role involves working in all areas of the Orthopaedic Department, including paediatrics, with training provided. The role is physically and mentally demanding, requiring the ability to work under pressure during busy periods.
We are committed to equality and diversity and welcome applications from all community sectors. Bolton NHS Foundation Trust aims to improve health outcomes, provide excellent care, and foster a workforce reflecting the community it serves. We offer excellent training and development opportunities, and our trust is rated as Good by the CQC. Join us to be part of a team dedicated to patient care and professional excellence.
