Ward Clerk - Inpatient Ward 27
The Ward Clerk will provide an efficient and high standard of administrative and clerical support to the maternity inpatients ward (Ward 27). In this busy ward environment, you will manage telephone queries, input and access data from patient information systems, obtain, prepare and file case notes as appropriate, and undertake general office and administrative duties including photocopying and typing. You will be required to use and maintain electronic records, demonstrate excellent communication, and work collaboratively with the Midwifery and Multi-Disciplinary team to contribute to safe and effective care.
Post holder responsibilities
* Work within Trust policy, national and local guidelines, and within own scope of role and professional practice.
* Act in a professional and polite manner at all times.
* Answer telephone calls and deal with all staff/patient requests/enquiries in a polite and courteous manner.
* Assist in the location/retrieval of any case notes required.
* Ensure all case notes are tracked on the IFIT casenote tracking system when arriving and leaving the Department.
* File clinical records/documents into the patient casenotes as required.
* Understand and comply with the Trust’s Patient Access Policy, Outpatients Operational Policy, Escalation Policy, and Data Protection Act policies.
* Demonstrate careful use of office equipment, order/maintain stock.
* Actively participate in the department and in other group meetings.
* Comply with all Trust policies and management instruction with regards to Health & Safety and Fire Prevention.
* Comply with the Trust’s Confidentiality Policy the Data Protection Act.
* Escalate issues where necessary to the Registered Midwife in charge and Ward Manager.
* Undertake any other duty as requested by your supervisor / manager which is appropriate to ensure the smooth running of the department.
