We are currently recruiting on behalf of a well-established engineering client specialising in hydraulic systems and mechanical assemblies. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled Mechanical Fitter or Hydraulic Technician to join a growing team, working both in-house and on customer sites across the UK (with occasional international travel).
The Role
This is a varied, hands-on position involving the assembly, installation, testing, and maintenance of hydraulic and mechanical systems.
Key responsibilities include:
* Assembly and testing of hydraulic power units (HPUs), cylinders, manifolds, and associated pipework
* Conducting quality checks to ensure systems meet technical and safety standards
* Supporting factory acceptance testing (FAT) and preparing equipment for dispatch
* Installation of mechanical and hydraulic systems at customer sites
* Fitting components such as motors, gearboxes, and bearings to specification
* Carrying out hydraulic flushing, pressure testing, and commissioning
* Fault finding, root cause analysis, and ongoing servicing work
* Performing both reactive and planned maintenance
* Producing detailed service and installation reports
* Maintaining accurate records for build, test, and service traceability
About You
We're looking for someone with a strong mechanical background and experience working with hydraulic systems.
Essential:
* Mechanical apprenticeship or Level 3 qualification in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent)
* Practical experience with hydraulic systems
* Solid understanding of hydraulic principles
* Ability to read and work from engineering drawings
* Willingness to travel for site-based work
