An exciting opportunity has arisen to work in the Public Health Team at Blackpool Council. The job will involve taking a proactive healthy settings approach to work with schools and other key partners to design, develop and implement a range of Public health programmes which will improve the health and wellbeing of pupils, staff and the wider school community.
The initial focus of the role will be on food and nutrition and specifically the management of Blackpool's unique Free School Breakfast programme which is currently being redesigned to ensure maximum effectiveness. This scheme is available to all primary schools in Blackpool and includes an universal offer for all pupils of milk, fruit and a breakfast item. The post holder will need excellent communication and engagement skills and be able to problem solve sometimes complex social and environmental situations to ensure the delivery of the scheme fits within the ethos and running of the school.
The post holder will need to work closely with each school in Blackpool, the Council's Catering Service, Active Blackpool and other key partners to ensure schools can embed Public Health with the setting and wider community.
