Detailed job description and main responsibilities This fixed-term post offers comprehensive training in obstetrics and gynaecology, with excellent opportunities to gain experience in minimal access and open benign gynaecological surgery, including operative laparoscopy, laparoscopic and abdominal hysterectomy, and endometriosis surgery. The post also provides extensive exposure to the Urgent Suspected Cancer (USC) service. This role is ideal for doctors wishing to develop advanced laparoscopic skills, complete the RCOG Benign or Acute Gynaecology SITMs, pursue CESR, or enhance surgical experience via OOPE. The appointee will participate in the obstetric on-call rota (1 in 9) in Royal Sussex County Hospital and work across our maternity services, gaining experience in high-risk and preterm obstetrics. Opportunities also exist for research, audit. The department is a recognised Gynaecological Oncology Centre, an accredited Endometriosis Centre, and hosts a subspecialist Urogynaecology service, providing a broad and stimulating clinical experience.
