Job Description
The HVAC Systems Manager will play a fundamental role in the delivery of newly constructed Fleet Solid Support Ships, ensuring that they are fully operational, safe, and compliant with all relevant regulations and standards before they are delivered to UK MOD and accepted into service.
This critical position involves close collaboration with various departments, stakeholders, and subcontractors to ensure the successful completion and delivery and you will be responsible for the management and delivery Test & Commissioning programme consisting of several major engineering systems, commissioning disciplines, platform assemblies and equipment.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities
Prepare, maintain, and update the commissioning schedules of the systems and subsystems packages assigned to them, such as but not limited to CBRN, HVAC&R, Fire detection and extinguishing systems.
Define the technical support that will be required of the vendors during the commissioning activities of the systems and subsystems they are assigned.
Revise and validate the FAT procedures received from the equipment vendors.
Attend the FATs of equipment included within the system and subsystem packages they have been assigned.
Review the completed FAT reports received from the vendors.
Confirm the resolution of FAT items upon receipt of the equipment at the shipyard.
Work with the FSS engineering group in the drafting and approval process of the tests and trials index.
Work with the FSS engineering group in the drafting and approval of the HAT and SAT procedures.
Review the mechanical and electrical completion documentation presented as part of the official proposals for handover of their assigned systems and subsystems to the commissioning phase.
Qualifications
A bachelor's degree in marine engineering, or a related field is typically required. Significant experience in shipbuilding, marine engineering, or ship HVAC role is essential.
Prior experience in managing complex HVAC projects is highly desirable. In-depth knowledge of ship systems, machinery, and equipment is essential.
Familiarity with international maritime regulations and classification society rules is preferred.
Strong leadership abilities to manage a diverse team of professionals and subcontractors effectively.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills to identify and resolve technical issues during commissioning.
Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to work with cross-functional teams and stakeholders effectively.
Meticulous attention to detail to ensure all commissioning processes are conducted accurately and in compliance with standards.
