An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Supervising Social Worker in Powys council, based in the Mainstream Fostering Team. The Mainstream Fostering Team undertakes the assessment and support of foster carers. Supervising social workers have manageable caseloads, receive a robust induction, regular reflective supervision, and additional support and mentoring when required.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Support and supervise foster carers, providing appropriate advice and guidance to ensure they can offer a safe, healthy, nurturing, and learning environment for children and young people in their care.
2. Participate in delivering foster carer training, such as Skills to Foster.
3. Support recruitment officers by actively participating in recruiting foster carers.
Qualifications and Experience:
* Post-qualifying experience in a fostering-related social worker role or in other childcare settings, such as a looked-after children’s team.
* Knowledge and understanding of the needs and experiences of children unable to live with their parents.
* Ability to complete assessments in a timely manner.
* Capability to support foster carers and their families to achieve the best outcomes for children.
* Up-to-date knowledge of relevant legislation, including the Social Services and Well-being Act and Local Authority Fostering Regulations.
