Data Architect - AI and Data (DV Cleared)

You'll work on high impact national programmes, shaping how data is governed, trusted and used across Government and Public Services. You'll be part of a strong Data & AI community, delivering meaningful work at scale. You will play a key role in shaping secure, scalable and standards aligned data architectures that underpin critical national systems.
A senior consulting role, combining enterprise architecture, delivery assurance and stakeholder leadership. You will assess existing data landscapes, define target‑state architectures, and guide delivery teams to implement robust, governed data solutions.
Key Responsibilities
1. Define enterprise data architectures, including conceptual, logical and physical data models aligned to UK Government and international standards.
2. Assess current‑state systems and data landscapes, and design target‑state architectures and transition roadmaps.
3. Establish and apply data architecture principles, standards and patterns across programmes.
4. Provide architecture oversight and assurance to ensure solutions are secure, scalable, reliable and maintainable.
5. Lead or support data and AI proofs of concept, pilots and experiments.
6. Own and support data governance, including data quality, lineage, metadata and compliance.
7. Act as an escalation point for data quality, governance and regulatory issues.
8. Engage with senior business and technology stakeholders to translate business outcomes into data architecture solutions.
9. Mentor and lead junior Data Architects, Analysts and Engineers.
10. Contribute to consulting activities, including proposals, presentations and pre‑sales support.
Required Skills & Experience
11. Significant experience as a Data Architect within consulting or large, complex organisations.
12. Strong background in data modelling and design (e.g. dimensional modelling, data vault).
13. Experience designing Data Lake, Lakehouse and Data Mesh architectures.
14. Strong understanding of SQL databases and familiarity with columnar and NoSQL technologies.
15. Experience designing data pipelines (batch, streaming, hybrid) and end‑to‑end data flows.
16. Knowledge of data governance, data quality, metadata, catalogues and lineage (e.g. Collibra, Informatica).
17. Understanding of cloud and hybrid deployment models
18. Proven experience working in multi‑stakeholder, multidisciplinary environments.
