Overview
We are seeking an experienced and motivated individual to join the Mortuary and Bereavement team at Northampton General Hospital as an Anatomical Pathology Technologist (APT). The role supports flexible bank shifts with local hospital sites, including longer or shorter lines of work to fit around you. The successful candidate may hold a Level 4 or Level 3 RSPH qualification, or be eligible for trainee APT positions.
Key Responsibilities
* Admission and release of deceased patients
* Safeguarding property and valuables
* Preparing and conducting viewings
* Performing post mortem evisceration and reconstruction of varying complexities
* Supporting daily departmental operations
* Training staff and supporting hospital teams and the HM Coroner
* Ensuring compliance with HTA (Human Tissue Authority) regulations
* Participate in the on-call rota
Qualifications and Skills
* Essential: Level 3 Diploma or 'Original Certificate and Diploma' in Anatomical Pathology Technology
* Five GCSEs A-C
* Knowledge of post-mortem examinations of varying complexities and specialist techniques including reconstruction, infection control and tissue preservation
* Capability for lone working as part of an on-call rota
* Understanding of the Human Tissue Authority's regulations
* Excellent communication skills
* Training ability, problem solving and multitasking
