BANK Food and Beverage Assistant
The Harborne Hospital, Birmingham
Bank Contract
Shifts between 0630am and 2200pm
£12.21/hour
Great service doesn’t change just because the setting does. If you’ve worked in hospitality, retail or any role where people come first, you’ll know the difference a thoughtful interaction can make. And in a hospital, those moments matter even more. As a Food and Beverage Assistant, you’ll bring the same pride, attention to detail and care you’d offer any customer to our patients, supporting them with high-quality, freshly prepared meals and helping them feel well looked after throughout their stay.
Whether you’re guiding someone through the menu or delivering their food with care and attention, you’ll help create an experience that feels calm, personal and reassuring. Our food is prepared to an exceptional standard, and you’ll play a key part in presenting it with the warmth and professionalism it deserves. It takes a special kind of person to do this role, but if you naturally bring a warmth and confidence to the way you interact with others, we’re confident you’ll fit right in here.
What you’ll do:
You’ll deliver a standard of service no different to a high-end hotel or restaurant, where the focus is on being attentive and giving people a positive experience. Meals are an important part of any hospital stay, and you’ll help make that experience smooth and comfortable by:
1. Helping patients choose meals, taking orders and delivering food across the hospital
2. Preparing and collecting meal trays promptly
3. Answering phone requests and communicating dietary needs to the kitchen
4. Keeping work areas clean, washing utensils and maintaining hygiene standards
5. Recording additional requests and following all allergen and dietary safety policies
What we’re looking for:
We’re looking for someone who puts people first - someone who knows how to support others in a busy environment and can bring that confidence into patient-facing conversations. As well as this, you’ll:
6. Have previous hospitality, retail or customer-service experience
7. Be confident in speaking with patients and colleagues
8. Take pride in delivering warm, attentive service
9. Demonstrate good awareness of food hygiene standards
10. Have a flexible, reliable approach during busy periods
