Our Nursing staff span throughout our organisation, working within Blood Supply, Clinical Services and Organ and Tissue Donation and Transplantation.
We are looking for a Corporate Lead Nurse to join our Senior Management Nursing Team to be responsible for coordinating the NHSBT professional nursing vision, working in conjunction with our Professional Nursing Leads and in collaboration with the Nursing Council.
Main duties of the job
1. You will join us to coordinate Nursing Professional Development activities across NHSBT nursing and responsible for the nursing vision and delivery of strategic objectives, measuring and improving compliance and strengthening collaborative working across our organisation and professional leadership.
2. As the Corporate Lead Nurse, you will be accountable for the delivery and monitoring of the Nursing Strategy with the Nursing SMT under the direction of the Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) and the Nursing SMT, ensuring that Key Performance Indicators are delivered and reported within the agreed timeframes, ensuring that action plans are regularly monitored and reported to the CNO. You will lead a team of professional experts and have responsibility for leading and supporting the safeguarding, student nurse, professional nurse advocacy and resuscitation activity.
3. You will support the professional development, education training and workforce issues. Develop comprehensive understanding of the wider organisational direction, strategies, objectives, practices and perspectives, and ensure nursing is aligned to these.
4. This role is pivotal in developing and maintaining strong working practices with key stakeholders both internally and externally, reflecting the move to a more cross-Directorate nursing workforce.
About You
Experience and Knowledge
5. Experience in the delivery of strategic objectives, establishing new areas/ways of work and change management.
6. Experience in the provision of leadership in a professional or clinical environment, being seen as a Subject Matter Expert and able to be a reference for guidance and interpretation of policy.
7. Experience in project management.
8. Experience in the management of resources within financial and political constraints. Experience in budgetary and business planning processes e.g. writing business cases.
9. Experience in leadership, change management and leading healthcare improvements.
10. Knowledge and experience of research methodologies and evidence-based practice.
11. Experience in presenting and publishing papers.
12. Demonstrates involvement in professional development, both personal and of others.
13. Experience of mentorship and coaching.
Qualifications and Training
14. Registered Nurse (RN1 or RNA) on the Nursing & Midwifery Council register (which must be maintained in the role).
15. Degree at master’s Level or equivalent relevant experience gained by working in senior/managerial level.
16. Evidence of continued learning and application in practice.
17. Computer literacy; competence in use of a range of computer packages including outlook, PowerPoint and Excel.
18. Demonstrate commitment to own Continued Professional Development (CPD).
19. Recognised Teaching and Assessment qualification mentorship e.g. City & Guild, English & Nursing Board .
20. Willingness to work irregular hours and to travel extensively, including overnight stays when required (with appropriate prior notice).
21. Willingness and ability to undertake travel and spend time away from base to meet the requirements of the post (with appropriate prior notice).
