AtkinsRéalis Transportation Project Delivery Practice (PDP) is a centre of excellence for the delivery of major transportation infrastructure projects. The team delivers design services in Strategic Rail, Strategic Highways and Local Transport markets and seeks experienced Project Directors to join the Epsom office. The role includes overall accountability for successful delivery of projects from inception to completion, influencing the growth and development of the wider project management team.
Responsibilities
* Overall delivery accountability and project assurance for all projects.
* Appointment and oversight of competent Project Managers and delivery teams, including Project Technical Leads and Reviewers.
* Ensure project reports accurately reflect project status and that appropriate reviews are conducted.
* Lead the bid phase as Bid Director.
* Ensure project management and contract administration through the life cycle in accordance with ECC NEC.
* Maintain a common understanding of requirements, scope, programme, costs, constraints, risk and interfaces across the team.
* Lead, motivate, coach and develop the wider project team.
* Communicate, liaise and engage with clients on a project‑by‑project basis.
* Deliver projects in accordance with governance arrangements, corporate and business policies, directives, guidance and procedures.
* Ensure projects meet clients’ requirements for health, safety, environmental and welfare; technical quality; cost; schedule; and risk (and opportunity) management from inception through to completion.
* Mentor and develop Project Managers and other team members as required.
* Deliver projects in line with AtkinsRéalis values of Safety, Integrity, Collaboration and Innovation.
Qualifications & Requirements
* Over fifteen years of multi‑disciplinary infrastructure project delivery experience.
* Project Management/Engineering background with design management, project management and contract administration experience in the Highways and/or Local Transport sector.
* Experience as a Project Manager on multidisciplinary design projects with design fees exceeding £2M per annum.
* Professional qualifications: CEng, MICE or equivalent (desirable).
* APM PMQ or equivalent recognised level of competence in Project Management (desirable).
* Experience deploying construction contracts such as NEC3/4 and bespoke forms.
* Experience working with National Highways and Principal Contractors (desirable).
* Understanding of National Highways Standards (desirable).
* Experience working closely with multi‑disciplinary design teams.
* Strong client‑facing and customer service skills.
* Ability to lead a delivery team confidently, demonstrating knowledge, skills and a positive attitude.
* Trusted by peers, seniors and clients to act in the best interests of all parties, fostering a collaborative environment.
* Excellent interpersonal skills with business acumen and commercial awareness to deliver profits.
* Understanding of BIM (desirable).
* Proactive and flexible working attitude, agile in client location and adaptable to challenges.
* Current clean driving licence.
