Overview
Applications are invited for the Maternity Reception position within the Maternity department at Gateshead Health NHS Foundation Trust. The role provides efficient, friendly and confidential reception service and data entry to support the department.
Working pattern
Part‑time, 6 hour shifts on a rota over 7 days inclusive of all bank holidays.
Salary
£24,465 a year (Band 2, Agenda for change).

Responsibilities
* Provide efficient, friendly service to patients, visitors and colleagues at reception or by telephone.
* Ensure patient details entered onto Careflow are correct and timely.
* Assist nursing and midwifery staff in achieving the highest possible standard of patient care.
* Maintain confidentiality.
* Liaise with unit staff, hospital security and wards regarding admissions, transfers and discharges and prepare relevant documentation.
* Coordinate and distribute discharges to appropriate health care professionals.
* Track patient notes (requesting, locating, notes transfer/return and filing).
Qualifications
Essential
* Administrative experience within a health and social setting.
* Ability to work as part of a team and on own initiative.
* Experience of working in a reception.
* IT and keyboard skills – Microsoft Office, Windows.
* Good interpersonal skills with professionals and the public.
* Excellent communication and telephone manner.
Desirable
* Previous experience of Careflow.
* Previous experience within an acute hospital setting/NHS.
