An HGV vehicle cleaner/wash operative required for a waste management company to maintain commercial fleets (trucks) by performing industrial cleaning, including washing, degreasing, and cleaning interiors and undersides.
Key Responsibilities
1. Exterior Washing: Use industrial-grade hot water pressure washers to wash, soap, and wax vehicle exteriors.
2. Underside/Chassis Cleaning: Thoroughly clean underneath HGV chassis and trailers to remove mud and road salt.
3. Interior Cleaning: Clean cabs, consoles, dashboards, seats, and carpets.
4. Safety & Compliance: Adhere strictly to COSHH (Control of Substances Hazardous to Health) regulations for chemical usage and follow on-site safety procedures.
5. Equipment Maintenance: Maintain cleaning machinery (pressure washers, hoses) in good working order.
6. Inspection: Perform pre- and post-wash checks for visible defects or leaks.
7. Experience: Previous experience in industrial cleaning, jet washing, or operating HGV wash equipment is preferred. Ability to handle physical labor, including working in varied weather conditions.
8. Attention to Detail: Ensuring all areas of large vehicles are cleaned to a high standard.
9. Licensing: While often a cleaning-only role, some roles may require a Class 1 or 2 license for shunting vehicles in the yard
10. Workshop or dedicated truck wash bay.
11. Often involves working weekends to ensure the fleet is ready for the next working day.
