Overview
An exciting opportunity to join a thriving new business and a growing team. The successful candidate will work within the team handling their own portfolio of pursuer injury claims both pre-litigation and litigated. You will have a strong focus to generate fee income and contribute to the general success of the team. You will also assist team members and management as and when required and you will also assist with the supervision, training and development of junior members of the team. The caseload is predominantly RTA based.
Responsibilities
* You will be responsible for delivering excellent client care to our clients who have suffered from a traumatic and life changing event.
* Regular communication and face to face meetings with your client.
* Instructions and meetings with expert witnesses
* Analysis of evidence and research of legal issues on liability, causation and quantum.
* Drafting documents including statements, pleadings, and all court documents.
* Securing early interim payments and appropriate rehabilitation.
* Ability to work within a task-based case management system to ensure regular contact is maintained with all clients, providing exceptional customer service and managing their expectations.
* Raising awareness of the department and developing your profile by regularly reporting cases, preparing articles and testimonials and commentary on relevant, current issues.
* Conduct regular technical and case reviews, providing updates and feedback to management.
* Supervision, mentoring, endorsing court documents and assisting in the development of junior members of the team as appropriate.
* Perform to a high level in a target orientated environment.
* To undertake any other tasks as deemed relevant and reasonable by the business.
Person Specification
* Proven track record of dealing with injury claims as well as complex, high value loss
* Commitment to delivering excellent client care for each of our clients
* Excellent communication skills to include negotiation and objection handling
* Accountable for achieving objectives in a fast-paced environment whilst maintaining high standards of work quality and client care.
* Competent working with a case management system and good knowledge of Excel and Word.
* Good attention to detail and strong organisational skills.
* Litigation experience with strong technical ability and practical knowledge of the court procedures.
* Team player who acts as a role model to your colleagues, including experience mentoring junior members of the team to develop their competence within personal injury work.
* Confident developing your professional profile and that of your firm within the personal injury field.
* Maintains a positive attitude, self-motivated and uses own initiative.
* Robust - able to deal with changing circumstances and challenging situations whilst still achieving objectives.
* Takes opportunities to develop and stretch yourself, and be passionate about developing your career in personal injury.
Travel
Our clients are based across Scotland and there will be a need for regular travel, for example to undertake meetings with clients and conferences with the multi-disciplinary teams of experts and counsel, as well as any necessary court appearances.
