Board Secretary 0.4 FTE / 14 hours per week 42,589 - 44,533 (pro rata) Permanent Based at Falkirk Campus Application by CV Forth Valley College require a Board Secretary to support the Chair, the Board and the Executive Team in ensuring compliance with all relevant legislation and governance requirements; give sound, well-researched advice and guidance to the Board; and support Board Members in evaluating their effectiveness. As Board Secretary, you need to be able to: Attend all meetings of the Board of Management, all sub-committees and any other meetings as requested by the Chair; Keep abreast of sector developments and relevant government policy and bring to the attention of Chair and the Board any matters which are likely to affect the arrangements in place for the College in relation to governance; Ensure all documentation relating to corporate governance, including the Board's Standing Orders, Scheme of Delegation, Code of Conduct, Committee remits and Registers of Interest, are regularly reviewed and kept up-to-date and are approved by the Board prior to publication; Act in an independent and impartial capacity and, at the request of the Chair of the Board, secure professional advice or undertake research in order to brief the Chair and Board Members on relevant issues; Manage the process of Board appointments and reappointments, ensuring that the process takes account of any relevant ministerial guidance; and Develop and deliver an induction and annual development programme for Board members in collaboration with the Chair and the College Principal. It is essential that you: Have demonstrable knowledge of corporate governance within Further Education or other Public Sector organisations; an understanding of the legal framework in which the Board operates; and an appreciation of ethical standards and the principles of public life; Participate in appropriate development i.e. the College Development Network Governance Professionals Steering Group meetings; Have experience of governance frameworks, Code of Good Governance and compliance, Board of Management operations and supporting governance systems; and Be educated to degree level (SCQF Level 9) or equivalent In addition, you must have the ability to build and maintain strong working relationships; remain independent and impartial; deliver to deadlines; and have meticulous attention to detail.
