Job Description
The Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation, Control and Automation (MEICA) role is vital to the effective and efficient running of our flood risk pumping stations, water control structures and our wider business. You will be joining a MEICA team that prioritises, plans and delivers the maintenance or replacement of our crucial assets, enabling flood protection to homes, businesses and the environment. As global climate change intensifies, this role will become increasingly important.
Responsibilities
You will work closely with external contractors to develop a world‑class asset management organisation. The role will provide strong technical leadership to ensure technical and design standards are upheld. It will also monitor quality and advise on the specialist MEICA technical, safety, legal, environmental and operational requirements that apply across a diverse range of assets.
Experience and skills required
* Comprehensive knowledge of engineering related statutory legislation, British and European standards.
* Experience leading safety investigations, identifying improvements and disseminating lessons to enhance engineering and behavioural safety.
* Knowledge and experience of Root‑Cause Analysis, reliability engineering, process improvement and technical leadership, including writing and reviewing technical specifications.
* Educated to a minimum of HNC/D or degree level in an appropriate mechanical discipline. An equivalent Level 4 qualification with I‑Eng professional registration may be considered.
* Professional registration at I‑Eng or C‑Eng is preferred but not essential.
Essential requirements
* Full UK Driving Licence is essential to perform the role.
* Applicants will be required to undertake training and participate in incident response duties when necessary, as part of working for the Environment Agency.
