Overview
Due to the expansion of our service operating 7 days between the hours of 08:00 to 20:00, we are looking for Band 7 HCPC registered MRI Radiographers to join our growing MRI team within the general imaging department at St Bartholomew’s Hospital.
Key working relationships
Key working relationships will be with the Imaging head of radiography, MRI Lead Radiographer, Radiologists, MRI & rotational radiographers, imaging assistants and other clinical and professional staff.
Responsibilities
* Participate in the effective and safe running of the MRI department and perform a wide range of specialist MRI scans in the extended hours 7-day service.
* Offer supervision/line management to band 6 radiographers, imaging assistants, students, and visitors to the MRI department.
* Ensure patient flow in the trust by actively managing the flow of outpatients and in-patients.
* Engage in prompt protocolling, checking of conditional devices, and liaise with radiologists and other clinicians to unblock barriers to scanning.
* Contribute to high-quality patient care and experience and diffuse potential complaints to patient and carer satisfaction.
* Work as a specialist diagnostic practitioner in MRI with a variable caseload of patients presenting with a full range of complex conditions.
* Carry out appropriate diagnostic procedures to support the diagnosis of complex conditions.
* Supervise, support and assist students and junior radiographers in service delivery and personal development.
* Organise and oversee the training of radiographers and students in all aspects of MRI scanning, including comprehensive competency assessments.
* In conjunction with the MRI Managers, promote continuous improvements in service delivery and quality within all areas of the MRI service, using modern methods to improve productivity, leading in service delivery and workforce transformation, and redesign.
* Manage the work of staff in the department and develop a culture of continuous improvement in high-quality service delivery.
* Ensure the development and acceptance of challenging but realistic objectives for staff and, through leadership, motivation and performance management, achieve required results.
