The Countess of Chester Hospital NHS Foundation Trust Estates Department is looking to appoint a Bank Maintenance Craftsperson (Joiner) to cover shifts on an "as and when" basis. The main purpose of this role is to ensure the Department provides a safe, efficient, and effective Maintenance Service to the Trust.
Your primary responsibility will be to perform general building maintenance of the Trust's structures, fabric, finishes, and fittings. You will need to implement safe systems, comply with statutory and regulatory requirements, and support innovation.
You should have completed a recognized craft apprenticeship and hold appropriate qualifications such as BTEC/HNC Level or City & Guilds, along with relevant post-apprenticeship training or equivalent experience. Effective communication skills and the ability to interact with staff at all levels are essential.
Evidence of good practical skills and a sound understanding of building maintenance is preferred.
Main duties of the job
1. You will undertake work safely and effectively, complying with all relevant safety legislation and procedures.
2. As a bank maintenance craftsperson, you will perform a wide range of tasks across different building and engineering disciplines, including minor works in mechanical, plumbing, and other non-core trades.
3. You must be available via the PDA system at all times to contribute to safety and respond to emergencies.
4. You will carry out maintenance tasks, including statutory, mandatory, planned preventative, and reactive maintenance.
5. You will manufacture and fabricate fixtures and fittings using woodworking machinery and hand tools, matching existing designs, and installing without supervision where required.
