We have an exciting opportunity for a Practice Nurse to join our team at HMP Altcourse, a category B prison located in the Fazakerley area of Liverpool.
This is a rotational RGN role within a busy remand prison. You will be expected to cover medication administration, triage, and emergency care alongside your role as Public Health Nurse. This is a crucial role within the team, with exposure to various different areas of healthcare.

Hours:

This role is offered on a full time basis, 37.5 hours per week working, 9am to 5pm, Monday to Friday (including Bank Holidays).

Salary:

This position is full time, you’ll receive an annual salary up to £41,659 per annum - depending on experience.

Candidates are required to have a Legal right to work in the UK and due to the nature of the role, offers of employment will be subject to additional vetting and security checks.

What you'll be doing
As our new Practice Nurse, you will have varying responsibilities. Some of your duties will include:
Working within Public Health, Triage, and Meds - this is a very varied role!
Lead on prevention, promotion and protection of our prison communities
Lead health promotion activities, delivering proactive clinics and awareness campaigns, provide health promotion and disease prevention advice
Conduct IPC audits and training on site
Ensure the effective and consistent delivery of national screening programmes, health checks, screening and recording public health activity
conducting long-term condition reviews such as diabetic, asthmatic and COPD annual reviews, including spirometry.
Sexual health assessments

Our new Practice Nurse will:
Be an RGN with NMC Registration
Have training in immunisations and vaccinations
ideally should hold formal, recognised training qualifications such as STIFF and BASH
Although not essential, UKPHR registration would be beneficial, as would any Public Health Qualification, or an Infection Prevention and Control Qualification
