Job Description
We're searching for a Quality Assurance (QA) Technician to join the Quality & Technical department of a global FMCG manufacturer in Harrogate. Demonstrable prior QA or microbiology experience within a food manufacturing environment is desired.

* £30,000 pa, dependent on experience
* 8 Hour Shift Rota
* Must be UK with full UK working rights residing within the local area
The Role:
As a Quality Assurance Technician, you will report to the Quality Manager and be responsible for conducting quality assurance tasks across the site, focusing on activities within the micro lab facility. You will maintain Food Safety & Quality Systems in accordance with business needs.
Responsibilities:
* Support the Quality Manager in maintaining Food Safety & Quality Systems.
* Conduct site hygiene surveys and microbiological testing as per schedule and documented procedures.
* Sampling and plating of relevant plant-based samples and finished products.
* Perform regular QA line audits to ensure product quality and packaging standards.
* Maintain a clean working environment and ensure proper stock rotation of lab consumables (FIFO).
* Carry out complaint investigations and document findings within Safefood 360.
* Collaborate with Operations to identify and address risks proactively.
* Collect technical data from boreholes as required.
* Read, document, and communicate sample analysis results effectively and confidentially.
* Additional QA duties including equipment calibration, stock management, and participating in audits for Micro Lab Accreditation (LabCred) and ISO 14001.
* Participate in project-based work within the department.
Skills and Experience:
* Experience in QA and/or Microbiology lab roles is preferred.
* Degree in natural or biological sciences, or relevant HACCP/QA qualifications.
* Excellent communication and organizational skills.
* Commitment to safety and health & safety standards.
* Comfortable working on a shift rota, including holiday/absence coverage.
* Proficient in Microsoft Office and in-house software.
* Team player with good prioritization skills.
* Own transport is advantageous for off-site visits.
