Overview
Applications are invited for an exciting opportunity as a fellow post in regional anaesthesia and point of care ultrasound at Colchester Hospital, part of the East Suffolk and North Essex Foundation Trust. The post offers a unique opportunity to develop a sub-speciality interest in regional anaesthesia, with exposure to a variety of regional blocks and the chance to expand delivery through teaching, training and quality improvement. Majority of work will be within the new multi-million pound regional orthopaedic hub, ESEOC, the Dame Clare Marx building, opened in 2025. The position is for 12 months, commencing August 2026.
The post holder will join an established and enthusiastic team delivering quality anaesthetic, perioperative and critical care services at the Trust, and will be expected to participate in out-of-hours on-call rota (frequency no greater than 1 in 8) as well as rotations for ICU, theatres and delivery suite, based on experience and competencies.
Responsibilities
The post holder will:
* Work with colleagues to provide a service with the highest standard of care.
* Work with the multi-professional team following care pathways and clinical guidelines.
* Follow and maintain good working practices.
* Undertake quality improvement projects related to regional anaesthesia, and submit regional and national posters and presentations.
* Supervise junior staff, teach, train and participate in departmental governance and quality improvement meetings.
* Flexibility will be provided to work in different areas to pursue special interests.
