Are you passionate about supporting students and removing financial barriers to education? We are looking for a Student Finance Support Officer to join our team at South Tyneside College.
About the Role
You will assist the Student Finance Co-ordinator in processing applications for financial support, including bursaries, travel, childcare, and other schemes. This role involves assessing eligibility, awarding funds, and providing a frontline service to students, ensuring they receive the support they are entitled to. You’ll also maintain accurate records in line with government regulations and college policies, and work closely with other teams to promote student wellbeing.
Key Responsibilities:
* Process and assess applications for student financial support.
* Award bursary and other financial support based on eligibility.
* Provide advice and guidance to students on available financial support.
* Maintain accurate records and comply with audit requirements.
* Promote awareness of bursary funds to staff and students.
* Monitor student attendance in line with funding requirements.
What We’re Looking For:
* Experience in an administrative role and excellent customer service skills.
* Strong knowledge of MS Office packages.
* Excellent organisational and interpersonal skills.
* Ability to work flexibly and respond quickly to changing requirements.
* Willingness to work occasional evenings and weekends.
* A team player who can use their initiative.
Desirable:
* Experience with student bursary funds and MI systems.
* NVQ Level 2 or above in Business Administration (or equivalent).
