Network Engineer – Milton Keynes and Remote
Our client, Nexus, is seeking a skilled Network Engineer with 7 to 10 years of proven hands-on experience.

2. Planning and implementing network transformation across 43 UK sites to support the rollout of 1-to-1 devices to students.
3. Designing and implementing layer 3 network enhancements, additional WiFi Access Points, and deploying new firewalls.
4. Peer reviewing proposed designs and configurations, and documenting in line with departmental standards.
5. Managing network changes, assessing IP address schemas, and planning expansion for additional network devices.
6. Testing solutions, connectivity, and routing, deploying new IP schemas, and documenting transitions.
7. Assessing location and AP density to ensure performance, planning and deploying additional APs, and testing their performance.
8. Assessing existing firewall configurations, testing, deploying hardware, and documenting support transitions.
9. Ensuring compliance with safeguarding policies, demonstrating commitment to safeguarding and wellbeing, and reporting concerns appropriately.
10. Engaging in safeguarding training when required.
11. Managing multi-site projects involving Meraki APs, HP/Aruba Switches, and Smoothwall Firewalls.
Qualifications and Skills:
* Proven expertise in Network Design, Routing, Switching, Wireless, DHCP/DNS, and Network Security.
* Excellent interpersonal skills.
* A degree in Computer Science or equivalent, coupled with a CCNA or equivalent certification.
* Experience and understanding of the Education sector are beneficial.
* Knowledge of WAN, LAN, VLAN design and implementation, as well as firewall setup and management.
* ITIL certification and experience with ITIL practices.
Additional Details:
* Rate: circa £300 - £400 per day.
* Duration: initially 6 months.
* Location: Milton Keynes offices required occasionally; role is primarily remote.
