Salary Range – £38,223 - £40,221 (Band 8) plus £2,182 market supplement (pro rata)
Working Pattern – Full time
Working hours – 36.25 hours (flexible working available 7am-9pm) (part time / reduced hours negotiable)

About the role
Trafford’s Environmental Health Team have an exciting vacancy in the team for an Environmental Health Officer. The Environmental Health team deal with a variety of areas of work and enforcement including food hygiene, food standards, health and safety, public health, animal welfare and sports ground safety. As part of the team, you will carry out inspections, investigations, and provide advice, and undertake enforcement, where necessary, to ensure Trafford is a safer place to live and work.
About you
You will be able to demonstrate your ability to work independently but also as part of a team. Experience in these areas of Environmental Health is highly desirable, together with experience in undertaking a range of enforcement action.You will keep up to date with the relevant regulations, policy and legislation relating these areas of Environmental Health
Qualifications and Professional Development
·A degree or diploma in Environmental Health recognised by the CIEH.
Key duties
·To support the Team Leader (Environmental Health & Safety at Sports Grounds) in ensuring compliance with all relevant legislative requirements relating to Food Safety and Food Standards, Health and Safety at Work, Infectious Disease Control, Licensed Premises, Public Health and Animal Health & Welfare and Safety at Sports Ground regime.
·To carry out inspections, audits, investigations, and sampling to monitor compliance.
·To investigate complaints, service requests and statutory notifications, and to advise customers, commercial premises and organisations in accordance with legislation.
·To undertake enforcement action in accordance with the Council’s enforcement policies, including the preparation of evidence and prosecution cases, court appearances, public inquiries, and the service of notices. To liaise with Legal Services as required.
Special Conditions
1. To be in possession of a current driving license and provide a serviceable car for use in connection with the duties required.
Additional Information
You will have flexibility in terms of hybrid working at home and in the office.
Flexibility will be required to work outside core hours.
