The Hereford operation is the major UK production facility in PCC Metals & Forgings Group and we now have an exciting/ challenging opportunity for a Quality Assurance Engineer to join the Special Metals Wiggin (SMW) team.

Role Purpose:

The Quality Assurance Engineer plays a pivotal role in maintaining and enhancing the AS9100-compliant Quality Management System (QMS). This position ensures that all processes, documentation, and practices meet regulatory, customer, and internal standards.

Role Overview:

Operating within an AS9100-certified environment, the Quality Assurance Engineer is responsible for the integrity and effectiveness of the site's QMS. This includes conducting internal audits, managing non-conformances, supporting root cause analysis, and driving corrective and preventive actions relating to the QMS. The Quality Assurance Engineer collaborates cross-functionally to implement process improvements, reduce risk, and uphold the highest standards of quality and professional integrity.

Essential Functions:

The Quality Engineer role can encompass any of the following:

QMS Implementation & Maintenance -

* Ensure compliance with AS9100 requirements across all areas of the business.
* Maintain and update QMS documentation (e.g., procedures, work instructions, forms).
* Lead and or support internal audits and external audits (e.g., customer, certification bodies).
* Monitor and report on QMS performance metrics. (e.g., outstanding audits, document reviews, CARs.)

Quality Assurance Activities -

* Maintain the internal audit schedule adherence.
* Conduct root cause analysis and corrective/preventive actions (CAPA) against QMS delinquencies.
* Review and approve quality documentation. (e.g., quality system procedures, quality manual).
* Lead and or support management reviews and risk management process.
* Ensure traceability and configuration control of products and documentation.

Supplier Quality Management -

* Participate in supplier audits and evaluations.
* Review and approve supplier quality documentation.

Training & Support -

* Provide training on AS9100 requirements, QMS procedures, and quality tools.
* Support teams in understanding and applying quality standards.
* Act as a liaison between departments.
* Facilitate training for new employees on quality fundamentals. (e.g., FOD, quality rules, change management).
* Facilitation of quality rules investigations.

Customer & Regulatory Compliance -

* Ensure compliance with customer-specific quality requirements.
* Stay updated on regulatory changes and industry standards.
* Any other duties that may be reasonably required by the business.

Key Performance Indicators (KPI's):

* Monitoring Audits, Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) and Process Compliance Control.
* Support in delivering KPI's relating to the QMS.
* Reduction in customer escapes and concessions.

Education/ Qualifications (one or more of the following essential):

* Lead Auditor Qualified (ISO9001, AS9100).
* Membership of an industry related Professional Body.

Experience/Skills/ Competencies:

* 2+ years' experience working in a QMS role essential.
* Strong Problem-solving and analytical skills with significant relevant and recent experience in tools such as 5Y, RCCA and CAPA essential.
* Familiarity with platforms like SAP, Innovator, ETQ, or other ERP/QMS systems, demonstrating strong computer skills.
* Hold excellent verbal and written communication skills to all levels of the business.
* Strong attention to detail.
* Ability to organise self and others.
* Confident decision-making ability.
* The ability to work within deadlines.
* Ability to interface with all levels of the business.
