Job Introduction

We are looking for a qualified Occupational Therapist to join our Intensive Rehabilitation Service supporting Pathway 2 discharges in the South of Wiltshire based in Salisbury area.

This service is based within an inpatient bed-based rehabilitation setting to provide patients an opportunity for focused rehabilitation after a hospital admission to enable patients to work towards their goals.

You will work with a multidisciplinary approach, alongside physiotherapists, assistant practitioners, rehabilitation support workers, care staff, and social workers to ensure the patients are supported to work towards their goals, with the aim of returning home or into another setting.

As a band 5 Occupational Therapist, you will be supported by a Therapy Clinical Lead and senior therapists within the team, along with community therapists within the organization, to develop in your role and increase your knowledge and experience working with a diverse caseload. There is an opportunity for career development and pay progression (Agenda for Change).

Main Responsibilities

1. Provide support and education to peers, new staff, non-registered staff, and students.
2. Work within the integrated multi-professional team.
3. Be accountable for assessing, interpreting, planning, and implementing occupational therapy treatment and care to patients within professional guidelines, with the support of specialist team members and the Team Leader.
4. Undertake assessments, care planning, and evaluation.
5. Wherever possible, avoid hospital admission and reduce inpatient length of stay to ensure patients receive appropriate care in the most suitable setting.
6. Keep the patient at the center of their care, ensuring patient and carer participation in decision-making.


The Ideal Candidate

* Dip COT/BSc/BSc(Hons)/MSc OT
* Registered as an OT with the Health and Care Professions Council
* Possess a current, valid full driving license
* Evidence of continuing professional development
* Knowledge of legislation affecting professional practice
* Experience applying research-based information to practice
* Assessment and care planning skills
* Experience working with a multi-disciplinary team
* Experience with various patient/client care groups
* Good communication skills across diverse backgrounds
* Flexible and sensitive working approach
* Interpersonal and communication skills
* Competence in a range of occupational therapy skills
* IT literacy
* Typing and data input skills
* Manual handling experience
* Ability to handle emotional issues sensitively
* Flexible and adaptable
* Organizational skills
* Report writing ability
* Experience managing difficult situations
* Motivated and goal-oriented
* Self-motivated
* Good time management
