Technical Service Manager – Defence Satellite Communications
A Technical Service Manager role is available supporting Commercial Satellite Communication Services within a defence environment. This position involves ownership of all support cases and close collaboration with Ministry of Defence system engineering and project teams to ensure timely resolution and process improvement.
Reporting to a senior technical services manager, the role requires coordinating multi-disciplinary teams to manage support visits efficiently, including logistics and commercial arrangements. The successful candidate will provide technical expertise, maintain high customer satisfaction, and contribute to ongoing support documentation and training.
Key responsibilities include:
Managing all UK Government support cases across satellite communications
Coordinating support teams and external stakeholders to resolve complex technical issues
Providing internal briefings to senior management on case status and plans
Ensuring effective management of service visits, equipment, and invoicing
Tracking support trends and owning improvement initiatives
Supporting minor project management within obsolescence and support programmes
Delivering training to 1st and 2nd line support staff and assisting onboarding
Essential skills and experience:
Defence communications experience, particularly satellite systems
Proven ability to engage effectively with MOD stakeholders
Technical knowledge of IT, networking, and electronic systems
Eligibility for or holding DV security clearance
Strong communication and customer-focused approach
Desirable:
Royal Navy technical communications background
Understanding of ITIL practices
Experience in training delivery and staff onboarding
