At our residential children's home in Eastbourne, the night shift is about creating a calm, safe space for young people who need high levels of supervision. With autism, ADHD, epilepsy, and severe learning disabilities, they may wake unsettled, struggle with communication, or present behaviours like spitting, hair pulling, or self-harm. Provide personal care and help maintain hygiene routines. Monitor epilepsy and respond to seizures appropriately. Use non-verbal communication supports to engage children. Model calm, professional responses during behaviours that challenge. Reassure and support junior staff when incidents occur. Drive young people in and out of the community if emergencies arise. What We're Looking For: We're seeking steady, experienced staff who bring both skill and calm authority: Experience with autism, ADHD, epilepsy, and severe learning disabilities. Skilled in non-verbal communication approaches (PECS, Makaton). Familiar with PBS and sensory regulation strategies. Resilient in the face of self-harm or behaviours such as biting or grabbing. Physically fit and alert through the night. Compassionate, reliable, and professional. Must hold a full and clean UK driving licence.
