Are you an experienced HGV Mechanic/Fitter looking to take the next step in your career? Join a leading defence manufacturing business specialising in military vehicle assembly and maintenance. We’re seeking a dedicated HGV Mechanic/Fitter to join our client’s team in Stockport.
Key Responsibilities
As an HGV Mechanic/Fitter, you'll play a key role in assembling and maintaining military-grade vehicles:
Final assembly of armoured wheeled vehicles and sub-assemblies
Diagnosing and rectifying mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic faults
Reading and working from engineering drawings and standard operating procedures
Using diagnostic software for system installation and fault repair
Ordering required parts and updating documentation via SAP
Supporting other departments and sharing knowledge through on-the-job training
Maintaining a clean and safe working environment in line with company 5S policy
Working flexibly with potential shift changes based on production demand
Skills and Experience
Proven experience as an HGV Mechanic
HGV Mechanic Certification – City & Guilds / NVQ
Level 3 Diploma in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance
Experience in vehicle assembly or mechanical maintenance
Understanding of hydraulics, pneumatics, and diagnostic systems
Strong communication, fault-finding, and problem-solving abilities
Familiarity with SAP and manufacturing processes desirable
Flexible and collaborative approach to cross-functional work
