Overview and Responsibilities
The Aurora Group is seeking a Bank/Casual SEN Teaching Assistant to support students across Aurora White House School and Aurora Eccles School in Quidenham, Norwich. The role offers flexible hours and a competitive hourly rate dependent on experience.
About the Schools:
Both schools provide day placements for students aged 6 and above, primarily with communication and interaction difficulties, specific learning difficulties such as dyslexia, autism spectrum conditions, or anxieties. Small class sizes and a full clinical team support personalized learning and development.
The Role:
The Teaching Assistant will support children’s learning and care, develop personalized learning plans, assist with daily routines, transitions, and positive behaviour management, ensuring a caring and safe environment. The role involves supporting the Class Teacher and contributing to the overall aims of the schools.
Key Duties:
1. Establish a warm, caring, and supportive relationship with pupils to foster safety and enjoyment in learning.
2. Promote independence and personal development, maintaining high behaviour expectations.
3. Support the delivery of high-quality, differentiated educational activities aligned with a broad curriculum.
4. Assist the Class Teacher with daily classroom management.
5. Adapt to the changing needs of the school to ensure smooth operations.
6. Support pupils’ cognitive, social, emotional, behavioural, physical, and spiritual development.
7. Work collaboratively within a multi-professional team.
Additional duties may be required to contribute to the school's overall aims.
Skills and Qualifications:
1. GCSE Maths and English Language at Grade 4 or equivalent.
2. Level 2-3 Teaching Assistant Qualification or working towards it.
3. Understanding of safeguarding principles and child protection procedures.
4. Knowledge and experience working with pupils with SEMH and ASD.
5. Must hold a full UK driving licence and have access to a vehicle due to the school’s location.
