Offer description

About us We are a small, fast-moving and enthusiastic team. We value curiosity, honesty and humility and know that people with purpose bring their best selves to work. We believe in building the role around the person, acknowledging unique skills and talents to allow people to get the most out of their time with us. Collaboration is key - we only succeed as a team. This is why we are committed to creating a true sense of belonging and community, providing the right tools and spaces to allow people to make meaningful connections. Everyone has a voice, and we don’t believe in barriers to communication caused by job titles. We want this to be a career - not just a job - so we commit to training and development, volunteering opportunities and empowering people to explore and drive the direction of their own journey. We are fully remote and understand that people have lives outside of work. With this in mind we are flexible around working hours to accommodate all that important stuff such as caring responsibilities, medical appointments and anything else that has to happen. Work-life balance is crucial and we aim to support a healthy blend. We like to get together occasionally to strengthen relationships, share successes and unwind. There are regular company meet-ups and opportunities for smaller team meet-ups throughout the year. Honesty, tenacity and accountability are how we succeed, and form our core values. We win by showing up in the right ways and doing the right things…as a team. Our share options ensure that when we win, we do it together! The role We are looking for an experienced QA Automation Engineer to join our team and help us build these products to high standards, in an interesting, engaging and fun workplace. We believe that automated testing is firmly at the centre of our development process; we're looking for candidates who are collaborative, and able to ensure that test automation is integrated throughout our software development lifecycle. Right to work Please note our staff must have the right to work in the UK. This applies to both Permanent staff and Contractors due to the nature of our business and contractual obligations. Skills We're looking for someone who has: Strong experience designing, developing, and maintaining automated test frameworks (e.g., Selenium, Cypress, Playwright, or similar) Proven experience ‘shifting testing left’ by integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines and making test automation a core part of the development workflow Experience of working in an agile development cycle Good communication skills, including the ability to document potential issues clearly and concisely Proficiency in programming languages commonly used for test automation (Ruby, Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, or similar) Hands-on experience with browser automation tools (Capybara, Selenium, Playwright, Cypress, or equivalent) and API testing frameworks Ability to translate user stories and acceptance criteria into comprehensive automated test scenarios and test data strategies Experience working in a remote collaborative environment, with the ability to take part in, and receive and act on, constructive feedback in PR's, pairing, planning and retro sessions The ability to take ownership for a task, with the confidence to ask for clarity or help if needed. We are also looking for self organisational skills. with a proven ability to deliver tasks to spec and within the allocated time budget. Experience with CI/CD tools (e.g., GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins, CircleCI) and integrating automated tests into deployment pipelines Knowledge of test design patterns, page object models, and maintaining scalable test architecture Experience working in an agile team, with familiarity with the basic agile ceremonies. Nice to have skills Please don’t worry if you don’t have these, we’re happy to invest in training the right people as we go. Good understanding of modern web security basics. Experience with performance testing tools (e.g., JMeter, k6, Locust) and load testing strategies Knowledge of containerization (Docker) and experience testing in containerized environments Familiarity with visual regression testing tools (e.g., Percy, BackstopJS, Applitools) Ability to document work, both at a technical level within code comments, but also for consumption by end users. The knowledge of when to document, and when code is clear enough. Ruby, Python, Go or Rust Video format knowledge Compensation Package Salary Up to £60,000 per year Holiday 25 days per year, plus bank holidays (and we close between Christmas and New Year which is gifted on top of annual leave) Remote work & hours Ad Signal is a fully remote company. Our team is spread through the UK and abroad. We meet up occasionally for meetings and socials, but your day to day will be from home. Our normal working hours are 9am to 6pm, with core hours of 10am to 5pm. However, within core hours people often have things they need to take care of (such as the school run) and we’re flexible to this; all we need is a heads-up in slack that you’re going to be away and for how long, simple. Equipment A MacBook Pro/Air, monitor, keyboard, mouse. If you require any special equipment for any health reason we can provide it and do our best to ensure your working environment is as comfortable as possible. Training budget We value learning and we offer a £1,000 / year training budget, with set reading and training days. You can agree with your manager how you’d like this to be used and we do expect you to use it. Additional days are available if speaking at an event where you represent Ad Signal. Pension Ad Signal operates a company pension scheme through Pension Smart. This constitutes an employer contribution of 3% of your annual salary and an employee contribution of 5%. The employee contribution is collected through Ad Signal's salary sacrifice scheme, and therefore is not subject to national insurance. Employees can choose to opt out of the salary sacrifice scheme or the entire pension scheme. Maternity & Paternity Our maternity and paternity policy offers much more than the statutory and shows our commitment to equality and care for our team. We really hope you’ll give it a look to get a sense of who we are; but in short it gives much more pay for maternity leave, while also giving similar rights to paternity, adoption and surrogate parents. Share options We have reserved a pool of employee share options, managed using a recognised EMI share scheme provider. We will tell you the exact number of options and what that is as a percentage of the total company before you join. Private Medical Insurance We offer private medical insurance (via AXA) to all of our team, and further cover for family members/dependents can be added onto the policy via our salary sacrifice team. Life Assurance We offer Life Assurance at 3x your salary to all of our team, with no extra/hidden costs. Mintago We manage most of our perks and benefits via the Mintago platform. This includes further options of salary sacrifice such as the Cycle to Work scheme, a childcare scheme, retail discounts, a pension pot finder and free access to a variety of Financial Advisors. EAP (Employee Assistance Programme) We have an EAP service available to all employees with 24/7 access to a GP helpline, personalised counselling, legal and financial advisors. This is available to all of our team, at all times. Work on side projects and open source We understand that some folks love to code, both in, and out, of work time. We're not only happy for you to do that, but will positively encourage it. We only ask that you discuss it with us first, but as long as it's not involved in AdTech or Certain ML uses, we're more than happy for you to indulge in some extra curriculum coding. E DI Statement As an equal opportunities employer, Ad Signal is committed to the equal treatment of all current and prospective employees and does not condone discrimination on the basis of age, disability, sex, sexual orientation, pregnancy and maternity, race or ethnicity, religion or belief, gender identity, or marriage and civil partnership. We aspire to have a diverse and inclusive workplace and strongly encourage suitably qualified applicants from a wide range of backgrounds to apply and join Ad Signal.
