Assistant Depot Manager
* Salary: £35,000 to £40,000, based on skills and experience
* Location: Braintree
* Shifts: 5/7 working shift pattern, 45 hours per week, with occasional evenings, nights, and weekends as needed
About the Role
As a Assistant Depot Manager, you will play a crucial role in steering our warehouse's daily operations. Reporting to the Depot Manager, you'll oversee the performance of our dedicated teams and ensure we meet our service levels and budgetary goals.
What You'll Be Doing
* Depot Leadership: Lead and manage teams to deliver outstanding service and performance.
* Customer-Centric Culture: Drive this culture across all functions.
* Objective Setting: Set objectives and operational KPIs for Section Heads and their teams.
* Resource Optimization: Ensure availability and optimize staff deployment.
* Workload Coordination: Coordinate operational plans and contingencies.
* Safety Promotion: Promote safe behaviours and champion the "clean as you go" policy.
* Continuous Improvement: Foster improvement and effective collaboration.
* Operational Communication: Communicate updates consistently.
* Training Opportunities: Identify opportunities for team member development.
* Colleague Engagement: Engage with colleagues to maximize effectiveness.
What We're Looking For
* Qualifications: Essential GCSEs in English and Maths (Grade C or above); a degree is desirable
* Experience: Proven track record in coaching and developing managers, understanding warehouse processes, and commercial awareness
* Skills: Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills; ability to prioritize and multitask under pressure; excellent PC skills (Microsoft Office)
* Attributes: Self-starter, pragmatic approach, strategic and operational thinker, relationship builder
