Responsibilities
* To organise and control the efficient and economic production of quality food within the allowed budget, whilst maintaining high standards of cleanliness and hygiene in line with EHO regulations.
* Food Preparation: Prepare, cook and serve hot and cold meals, as required; provide for special dietary requirements and take into account client preferences.
* Communication: Liaise with the Home Manager when planning/costing menus to provide a balanced nutritious diet, making the best use of available fresh foods; arrange/participate in staff and client meetings as required.
* Budgetary/Financial Control: Maintain accurate records of food supplies and temperature logs; ensure stock rotation; order stocks, check deliveries, and value stocks as required by the Home Manager.
* Training and Development: Supervise and instruct Kitchen Staff in equipment use and hygiene procedures; conduct basic food hygiene training for care staff involved in handling and delivery of food; attend mandatory training days/courses as required.
* Health and Safety: Ensure statutory health and safety standards in the kitchen and dining areas; ensure cleaning and storage of crockery/equipment; report illnesses, accidents, and any hazards; promote safe working practices.
* General: Maintain confidentiality, adhere to company policies, and be willing to undertake other reasonably assigned tasks; promote a positive professional profile within the local community.
Qualifications
Required:
* City & Guilds 706 - 1 & 2, or equivalent (achieved or working towards)
* Basic Food / Hygiene Certificate
* Good communication skills
* Team player
* Ability to work on own initiative
* Satisfactory Police Check and check against the POVA List (where applicable)
Desired:
* Intermediate Food / Hygiene Certificate
* Experience in preparation of food to the IDDSI standards
* Previous supervisory experience
* Experience of Food Preparation for the relevant Client group
