Team Leader (North-West) TCV (The Conservation Volunteers) Location: Derry/Londonderry (Brooke Park) covering County Derry/Londonderry, Tyrone, Fermanagh and some cross-border projects Salary: £29,787.26 per annum Hours: 35 per week (full-time) Contract: Permanent Closing date: 9th February 2026 Charity Jobs NI is delighted to be recruiting on behalf of TCV (The Conservation Volunteers) for an exciting new Team Leader (North-West) role, based at TCVs purpose-built site at Brooke Park in Derry/Londonderry. This post will lead ambitious operational plans for the wider North-West locality, delivering a high-impact portfolio that connects people to nature and delivers tangible environmental, wellbeing and community outcomes. The role TCVs vision is Better Nature For All. TCVs mission is to connect people together to protect and restore nature, delivering lasting benefits for both people and the environment. In the North-West, the team delivers projects that protect and restore local environments, improve health and wellbeing through connection to nature, and develop conservation and green skills. The current portfolio includes: Projects to improve community open spaces and involve local people School grounds enhancement projects Tree planting projects Habitat management across a network of nature reserves and country parks Partnership delivery through the Acorn Fam Project and TCVs I Can Grow initiative (supporting 400 households per year) Therapeutic horticulture and community growing projects that help reduce health inequalities This role requires strong people leadership, coordination of a complex programme of work, and the ability to build strategic partnerships to sustain and grow delivery. Experience and understanding of working with volunteers and engaging volunteers from all backgrounds (including young people, minority ethnic communities and corporate volunteers) is essential. About Brooke Park (your base) TCVs Brooke Park base includes an open-plan office, large training room, workshop, walled community garden with growing infrastructure (to engage all ages and abilities), polytunnels, storage sheds and a vehicle fleet. Key responsibilities Project, resource and financial management Provide overall accountability for safe operations, compliance, and effective management of projects, people and resources. Manage budgets and costs, including forecasting and performance monitoring to support financially sustainable delivery. Contribute to income generation by identifying opportunities and supporting larger bids and new funding streams, working with the Operations Leader and Business Development colleagues. Oversee project promotion and profile-raising activity (including media/marketing), ensuring inclusive community engagement and meeting funder/partner requirements. Provide hands-on delivery support when required to meet operational and contractual needs. People leadership and volunteering Lead, line manage, coach and develop team members, ensuring appropriate training and support is in place. Ensure an excellent volunteer experience across projects, coordinating opportunities, recruitment and safe delivery, and actively engaging volunteers from diverse backgrounds. Property, vehicles and equipment oversight Oversee the safe use, security and maintenance of tools, equipment, PPE, uniforms, vehicles, premises and IT equipment, ensuring issues are reported and resolved. Stakeholder management and partnerships Build and maintain strong relationships with partners, funders, suppliers, contractors and local communities. Develop new partnerships to sustain and expand operations across the region. Planning, reporting and compliance Coordinate planning across multiple project strands, ensuring smooth delivery and effective resourcing. Ensure accurate and timely reporting, evaluation and compliance with funder requirements. Oversee risk assessment, safeguarding and health & safety practice across delivery, aligned to TCV policies and procedures. Person Specification Essential Criteria NVQ Level 5 (or equivalent) or significant relevant experience, plus relevant training/qualification aligned to project delivery. Proven leadership experience, including line management, coaching and supporting staff/teams (and ideally volunteers) to deliver outcomes. Demonstrable experience planning, coordinating and overseeing a complex portfolio of projects simultaneously, managing resources and prioritising competing deadlines. Strong budget management experience, including forecasting and monitoring performance to support sustainable delivery. Track record of partnership working with funders/clients/community stakeholders, with excellent communication, influencing and relationship management skills. Experience contributing to income generation and project growth (e.g., identifying opportunities and supporting grant/bid development or other funding streams). Experience in horticulture, land management or conservation work (or closely related practical delivery). Strong understanding of working with volunteers and engaging people from all backgrounds, with a clear commitment to inclusive practice. Experience of monitoring, evaluation and reporting across projects, using insight to inform planning and meet external requirements. Confident IT user, able to work collaboratively and meet reporting needs. Highly organised, solutions-focused and detail-oriented, with a strong commitment to TCVs aims and values. Willing and able to provide hands-on delivery support when required, alongside management responsibilities. Ability to oversee safe management of operational resources (vehicles, premises, equipment and materials) across locations. Desirable criteria Qualification in people management and/or project management. Experience leading geographically dispersed teams and/or coordinating delivery across multiple sites. Experience in a similar leadership role within the voluntary, environmental, community or funded sector. Experience managing suppliers/contractors and improving delivery efficiency and effectiveness.
