Overview
FPGA Firmware Electronics Engineer – Defence – Cambridge
We are currently seeking an experienced Electronics Engineer to join a multidisciplinary team of engineers that assist in the development of brand-new technologies for the Defence sector, with a focus on defence rather than offence.
These technologies can encompass communications, sensors, detection, and other complex technologies within the Defence sector. As you will be working on defence projects, you will need to be able to obtain (or already hold) security clearance.
As a smaller defence company, there is more flexibility in the projects you get to work on. Collaboration with other teams and external groups means you will have the opportunity to develop your skills and continuously learn new things while inventing exciting technologies.
Responsibilities
As part of a multidisciplinary team, contribute to the development of brand-new defence technologies in areas such as communications, sensors, and detection.
Work on FPGA firmware development using VHDL or Verilog and collaborate with internal and external groups to deliver integrated solutions.
Engage with ongoing learning and skills development, with opportunities to work across different projects as the team grows.
Qualifications
Required/Preferred: Degree in electronics engineering or related field with exposure to FPGA work.
Experience with FPGA firmware development (VHDL or Verilog) is ideal. Prior work in the Defence sector is advantageous but candidates from other sectors will be considered.
Ability to obtain or hold security clearance for defence projects.
Benefits and Opportunities
Competitive starting salary with salary reviews, bonuses, pension, and other outstanding benefits, including free lunches.
Opportunities for future career development as the company grows, with options to focus on core responsibilities while remaining engaged with new technologies.
