Responsibilities
* Lead and coordinate the care of patients from A&E through to discharge, including complex short and long stay patients.
* Act as Nurse in Charge and deputise for the ward manager when absent.
* Perform roster management, quality audit, incident investigation and maintain high standards of care.
* Support junior staff through role modelling, encouraging and 1:1 appraisals.
* Assist with cover for other wards and manage complex nutritional, stoma, drain and wound needs.
Qualifications
* Band 6 senior staff nurse with a minimum of 2 years experience in an acute surgical setting.
* Experience and interest in general surgery, upper GI, colorectal, bariatric and complex nursing care are encouraged.
* Strong leadership, organisational and communication skills.
