About the role
We're looking for an enthusiastic and proactive Occupational Health Manager, passionate about staff wellbeing to lead occupational health at our world class research institute.
In this pivotal role, you'll embed and manage our new occupational health service provider and manage the occupational health service contract with the outsourced supplier. As well as the day to day liaison with occupational health provider you will analyse our key performance indicators against service level agreements and be the point of escalation.
As the subject matter expert for all services relating to occupational health, you'll champion health protection and promotion, support staff with underlying health conditions and disabilities, and work closely with our People Team to ensure services meet the needs of our diverse scientific community.
What you will be doing
As an Occupational Health Manager
at the Crick, you will:
* Develop and implement a comprehensive occupational health strategy aligned with the Institute's goals.
* Provide expert advice to the People Team, senior leadership, and line managers on occupational health matters
* Collaborate with the Health and Safety team on collective initiatives to support a healthy and safe workplace
* Act as the key liaison and contract manager for the external Occupational Health provider, ensuring effective service delivery against KPIs and SLAs.
* Schedule and coordinate services with suppliers to ensure future demand is met. Lead on tendering processes or contract renewal as needed.
* Coordinate and oversee health surveillance programmes in line with statutory requirements (e.g. COSHH, noise, respiratory health).
* Manage the reasonable adjustments budget & process, ensuring that all staff and students requiring adjustments have their needs met in a timely manner.

About you
You will have:
Essential
* Professional qualification in Occupational Health and/or Health and Safety with experience in Occupational Health matters.*
* Significant experience in occupational health service delivery, including managing external providers.*
* Strong understanding of UK occupational health legislation and workplace health risk assessment.*
* Experience in sourcing and tendering processes, following organisational risk analysis.*
* Experience in successful supplier management including effective handling of any performance issues
* Excellent interpersonal and influencing skills with proven experience of having worked closely with the Health & Safety team, People Team colleagues, staff networks and staff representatives and senior leaders
* Experience within higher education, scientific research, or a laboratory-based environment (Desirable)
* Familiarity with health hazards in scientific settings e.g. biological, chemical, ergonomic risks (Desirable)
