Overview
Senior Crisis Care Practitioner role at NSFT Jobs. The Norfolk 111 Mental Health Option Team (formerly First Response Service) provides a 24/7 crisis telephone line offering urgent mental health support. This is a Band 6 senior role based in Norwich, with opportunities to develop management skills and lead on service development.
Shifts are typically 7am–7pm, 8am–8pm, 1pm–1am and 8pm–8am. The service collaborates within an MDT and conducts telephone triage assessments to support and guide service users in crisis from the Weavers Centre, Hellesdon Hospital.
You will join a team with varied backgrounds in a supportive environment and receive a robust training and induction package, including a supernumerary period and allocated mentor.
Responsibilities
* Answering calls from service users and professionals
* Triaging and assessing over the phone
* Safety planning
* Documentation of assessments, referrals, and notes
* Liaison with other professionals and teams
* Occasional formulation and plans for regular callers
* Leading on topics such as Learning Disability, Youth, Drug & Alcohol, Perinatal, etc. (training and knowledge sharing opportunities available)
* Shadowing other teams where appropriate
* Brief intervention over the phone where appropriate
* Quality improvement initiatives
You will also have the opportunity to co-coordinate shifts, provide clinical oversight, support teaching and training, lead staff development and act as a visible role model aligned with the trust values and service vision.
Qualifications and Requirements
• Demonstrated experience in crisis care or related mental health settings (Band 6 senior role).
• Ability to work within a multidisciplinary team and provide telephone triage and crisis support.
• Commitment to professional development and handling a range of mental health crises with compassion and recovery-focused care.
