About The Role
At AO Recycling, we are continuously learning about our business and are seeking a versatile IT Generalist to lead data gathering, analysis, and business change initiatives. We are on an ambitious journey to innovate in recycling, and we need proactive individuals to join us and grow with the business. The role involves delivering and supporting IT projects from conception to implementation, collaborating with various business functions, and driving operational improvements to make AO Recycling's platform the best in the UK.
The ideal candidate will have a solid background in IT project delivery, with fluency in SQL and SQL Reporting Services. Basic networking knowledge and experience working with third-party developers and group IT functions are desirable. The role requires independent work, proactive management of tasks, and high-quality solution delivery. Key Responsibilities
* Lead and manage IT projects, ensuring timely delivery aligned with business goals.
* Gather, analyse, and document business requirements; communicate technical specifications effectively.
* Develop, maintain, and optimise SQL queries; design and deliver reports using SQL Reporting Services.
* Identify and resolve technical challenges; troubleshoot across the IT ecosystem.
* Diagnose and resolve networking issues using basic networking knowledge.
* Collaborate with third-party developers and external vendors to implement IT solutions.
* Work with Group IT to ensure solutions meet standards, security, and scalability requirements.
* Stay updated with emerging technologies; advocate for innovative tools and solutions.
* Provide technical guidance to cross-functional teams; support and maintain IT systems.
* Create and maintain technical documentation, including test scripts and UAT processes.
Candidate Profile
* Degree (minimum 2:1) in computer science or related field with relevant experience.
* Experience in IT project management, requirements gathering, and business analysis.
* Knowledge of Power Apps and Power Automate is a plus.
* Proficiency in SQL and SQL Reporting Services.
* Basic networking skills for diagnosing common issues.
* Experience working with internal and external developers/vendors.
* Strong problem-solving skills and solutions-oriented mindset.
* Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
