Porthaven care homes are looking for an experienced and detail-focused Capital Accountant to support our Group Financial Controller with the financial management and reporting of capital projects, fixed assets, and related financial instruments.

About the role:
This is a pivotal role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of our capital accounting processes, while also contributing to wider financial planning and performance analysis. Key duties include:
* Manage reporting and reconciliation of capital projects and fixed assets
* Maintain fixed asset registers and oversee the fixed asset module in Sage Intacct
* Assist with the development and enforcement of capital accounting policies
* Work with the Development Director to provide financial reporting on construction and refurbishment projects
* Support preparation of monthly management accounts and capital reporting
* Oversee the accounting and forecasting of loan interest and financial instruments
* Assist with inter-company loan interest calculations and rental contract reviews
* Contribute to the preparation of capital expenditure budgets and forecasts
* Provide variance analysis and monthly spend reporting
* Assist in year-end financial statements and external audit preparation
* Support process improvement and train colleagues on capital accounting principles
About you:
You have a strong grasp of capital accounting and are confident managing fixed asset registers, reporting on capital expenditure, and overseeing loan and interest accounting. You bring experience in supporting cash flow forecasting and audit processes, and you're comfortable working across functions. Other key skills
* ACA or ACCA (part or fully qualified), or qualified by experience
* Provenstrong background in capital accounting, fixed assets, or financial reporting
* Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial systems (e.g. Sage Intacct)
* AnUnderstanding of capital expenditure processes and financial instruments
* Strong attention to detail and ability to interpret financial data
* You're a natural collaborator who thrives in cross-team environments, engaging confidently with stakeholders across finance, operations, and development to deliver accurate and insightful financial information.
* You're extremely proactive and willing to take initiative and contribute to process improvements.
