Proposed Interview Date: Week Commencing Monday 13 January 2025

Contract Type: Temporary until 3 July 2025

Salary: FC4 £24,890.91 - £27,087.17 (Pro-Rata)

Working Pattern: 8 Hours per week, 39 weeks per year (2 days a week, 8.45am to 12.45pm)

Location: Westfield Family Nurture Centre, Westfield Road, Cupar, KY15 5AR

Job Details

We are looking for a committed Pupil Support Assistant (2) who is passionate about improving life chances for all, so that children and young people can achieve their full potential. As a Pupil Support Assistant (2), you will work under the direction and supervision of a class teacher or senior member of staff to assist by supporting children and young people who have been identified as requiring additional support.

You will be required to:

* Support pupils/children individually or in class or in small groups in identified areas of learning and personal development.
* Contribute information to update planning and review processes for individual pupils/children.
* Supervise pupil/child self-administration of medication, offering a high level of personal care to enable the pupil/child to function to their full potential.
* Carry out support programmes designed by visiting specialists (e.g., speech and language programmes, physiotherapy, and/or occupational therapy programmes).
* Support pupil/child mobility (as defined by moving and handling training) on an emergency/short-term basis and for low-level needs.

Qualification, Registration and Skill Requirements

* Good levels of interpersonal skills and abilities to work as a member of a team to ensure positive outcomes for all children and young people.
* Experience of supporting young people with additional support needs.
* Before confirming your appointment, you will be required to obtain Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) scheme membership through Disclosure Scotland.
* 2 National 5’s, or 2 Standard Grades General, or 2 O Grades or equivalent (SCQF Level 4 or above).
* You must apply to register with SSSC within 3 months of taking up employment in this role (Early Learning Centres/Primary and Special schools only) and maintain your registration.
* For Early Learning Centres/Primary and Special schools only - NC in Early Education and Childcare at SCQF Level 6 or SVQ Social Services (Children and Young People) at SCQF Level 6 or Professional Development Award in Education Support Assistance at SCQF Level 6 or equivalent.
* Good IT Skills.
