The Opportunity
We’re excited to be supporting an optician in Chesham who are looking for a friendly and adaptable Optical Assistant to join their professional team. With a strong focus on teamwork, customer care, and career development, this role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced but supportive environment.
This is a full-time position (38 hours per week) with a fair rota system, meaning you’ll rarely work both weekend days and always know your shifts a month in advance.
What You’ll Be Doing
* Greeting patients and delivering first-class customer care
* Handling calls and enquiries with professionalism and warmth
* Dispensing glasses accurately, including single vision, bifocal and varifocals
* Supporting across the practice – from dispensing, pre-screening and CL teaching to admin and reception duties
* Working as part of a multi-skilled team to keep the practice running smoothly
* Supporting patients with product recommendations and ensuring the best outcomes
About You
We’re looking for someone who is:
* Experienced as an Optical Assistant – must have experience in an opticians and can dispense to all levels (further development and training is available)
* Friendly, approachable, and customer-focused
* Adaptable and happy to get involved in all areas of the practice
* Confident on the phone and with face-to-face communication
* A reliable team player who enjoys working collaboratively
What’s On Offer
* Competitive starting salary of £12.41 per hour (approx. £24,522 per year) – higher rates available based on skills and qualifications
* Individual bonus (around £200 per month) based on dispensing and product sales
* Team bonus (around £50 per month) linked to store performance
* Ongoing training and development opportunities, including monthly training sessions
* Fair and balanced rota, with shifts planned one month in advance
* 38-hour contract to cover training time, including one late evening per week (Wednesday)
