About the Role

This is a new and exciting fixed‑term role offering unique opportunities for an experienced advanced nurse practitioner, to support the development, implementation and establishment of a pilot service to test a new neurodiversity (ND) service model for children and young people (CYP) across several South East London (SEL) boroughs. This is initially a 12‑month pilot, with the potential to extend to 18 months. The aim is to test a new multi‑borough ND support and assessment model, facilitating a reduction in the longest waits for ADHD and ASD assessment across SEL.

The Hub will:

* offer a single point of access and a dual diagnostic pathway (where required) for assessment
* pilot the use of an ND insight profiling tool to inform assessment and identify support needs
* offer relevant support and workshops to CYP and their families whilst waiting
* develop a community/primary care medication pathway for ADHD medication initiation, titration and reviews

The Hub team will be multi‑disciplinary, including community paediatrics, psychiatry, GP, speech & language therapy, nursing and psychology, with associate neurodiversity practitioner roles being developed to focus on needs‑led support. The team will be led by a Clinical Team Lead, with support from the Programme Manager and the Clinical Programme Lead. The ND hub will work closely with colleagues across a range of services, including CAMHS and transitional pathways to adult services.

The Advanced Nurse Practitioner will be a senior autonomous clinician working within the SEL CYP ND Hub. The post holder will have completed postgraduate training in Advanced Clinical Practice and will demonstrate expertise across the four pillars of advanced practice: Clinical Practice, Leadership, Education, and Research. This role requires the application of high‑level knowledge, independent clinical judgment, and practice‑based experience to support children and young people with neurodevelopmental needs, with a primary focus on ADHD. The role requires the ANP to be an independent prescriber and experience of ADHD assessment is essential. The post holder will be operationally managed by the Clinical Team Lead and will receive professional support from a named nurse. Regular communication with other health professional colleagues and education partners is integral to the role.
