SEMH Teaching Assistant
Location: Sittingbourne
Pay: £90 – £100 per day
Contract: Full-time
Start Date: January 2026
Academics are currently working in partnership with a SEMH School in Sittingbourne to recruit a SEMH Teaching Assistant to support students with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.
This is a rewarding opportunity for a resilient and empathetic individual who is passionate about helping young people overcome barriers to learning and engagement.
The Role:

Providing 1:1 and small group support to students with SEMH needs
*
Supporting emotional regulation, behaviour management, and engagement in learning
*
Building positive, trusting relationships with students
*
Implementing behaviour support and intervention plans
*
Supporting students both in and out of the classroom
*
Working closely with teachers, pastoral staff, and external professionals
The Ideal Candidate:
*
Experience working with SEMH, challenging behaviour, or vulnerable young people
*
Calm, patient, and consistent approach
*
Strong behaviour management and de-escalation skills
*
Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities
*
Background in education, youth work, care, or mentoring is desirable
