Deputy Home Manager Residential Childrens ServicesShrewsbury, Shropshire
£14.60 per hour (+ 50p supplement for Level 5 qualified staff)
Potential of an additional £3250 - £6500 per year for sleep ins
We are recruiting a Deputy Home Manager on behalf of a well-established provider of therapeutic residential care for children and young people aged 518 with complex needs arising from trauma, abuse, and adversity.
This is a senior role within a childrens home, supporting the Registered/Service Manager with the day-to-day operation of the service and the delivery of high-quality, child-centred care in line with Childrens Home Regulations, safeguarding standards, and best practice.
Key Responsibilities
Lead shifts and oversee daily operations when on dutySupport childrens emotional, physical, and psychological wellbeingImplement and review care plans and maintain accurate recordsSafeguard children and manage challenging behaviour using therapeutic approachesSupervise, mentor, and support residential staffSupport recruitment, induction, rotas, and staff developmentAct as deputy in the Service Managers absence, including on-call dutiesWork collaboratively with external professionals and placing authoritiesEnsure compliance with safeguarding, regulatory, and health & safety requirements
Essential Requirements
NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Residential Childcare / Children & Young PeopleMinimum 5 years residential childcare experienceExperience supervising staffStrong knowledge of safeguarding and childrens residential regulationsAbility to manage challenging behaviour safely and therapeuticallyFlexible approach to rota-based shift workExcellent communication skillsFull UK driving licence
Desirable
NVQ Level 4 in Leadership/Management (or willingness to work towards)Deputy or senior experience in a childrens homeTrauma-informed or therapeutic practice experience
