Overview
Technical Optimiser - Clean Water Field Operations West. Location: Chellow Heights, Bradford & Craven Area (West). Work type: Permanent. 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday.
Join to apply for the Technical Optimiser role at TieTalent. Yorkshire Water is a Water Utility Company based in the Yorkshire region of England. This role is within the Field Operations team and involves helping Yorkshire Water provide the best service to customers.
Responsibilities
* Organise and coordinate resources to deliver complex jobs (Field, leakage, Service Partners, ER, etc.).
* Proactive network operation and maintenance activity; complete operational risk assessments and supervise all network intervention.
* Respond quickly and effectively to network failure to minimise impact on key performance targets (e.g., Water Supply Interruptions and Water Quality).
* Drive improvements in performance against targets (Customer Minutes Lost, Water Quality, CMEX) by improving technical expertise, providing internal coaching and development support, and quality control auditing for field teams.
* Coaching and training team members to deliver excellent performance and align with the companys strategic objectives and performance commitments related to Network Services.
* Understand the financial implications of promoting Repair and Maintenance work on the Water Services Agreement; balance risk and cost to deliver solutions for the customer in a cost effective and efficient manner; work with R&M partners to support efficient delivery and reduce the cost of failure where possible.
* Deliver consistently excellent face-to-face customer service, owning customer problems (including difficult ones) to resolution; where needed, promote follow-on work to Contract partners or Yorkshire Water staff.
* Understand Retail competition, the Water Act, and obligations to deliver service compliant with Market Codes related to Retail Competition.
* Operate and optimise the distribution network to ensure a continuous flow of supplies; assess risks in Supply/Demand, Service, and Supply Interruptions to deliver the best outcomes for customers and the business.
* Participation in a regional standby rota (required once trained).
Skills & Qualifications
* In-depth technical knowledge of the network and complex jobs (e.g., trunk mains repairs) requiring system changes.
* Advanced hydraulics training.
* Strong coaching skills to develop and mentor junior team members.
* Understanding of how the role fits within the business plan and how to deliver outputs.
* Experience delivering against challenging upper quartile targets and performance commitments.
* Builds and maintains effective internal and external relationships; acts as a role model.
* Positive approach to change, including technology, process, behavioural and organisational change.
* Excellent customer service skills internally and externally.
Additional Benefits
* Coaching skills; ideally has attended courses.
* Experience in a commercially oriented and/or regulated environment.
* Experience in the water or wastewater sector or related utilities, process or manufacturing.
* Technical understanding of water network and assets.
* HNC in engineering or related qualification.
* Project management experience.
* Knowledge of Water Regulations and Plumbing.
